Hi All,

I saw a URL for this forum from a yahoo answers page, so here i am!

I'm looking into places to get my license and then, of course, shooting ranges in the area. Any personal suggestions and experiences would be very much welcomed!

In the future, i'll definitely want to get my hunting license as well. But shooting ranges first.

Cheers,
-mezzie

Welcome.
I took my course at http://www.guns.to/
Good experience.
Do the PAL and RPAL. It's silly to do just the PAL, even if you never end up buying a handgun.

Lurk at this (CGN) site - you'll learn lots. Probably save you lots of grief.

Learn the laws regarding guns, their acquisition, transportation, and storage. Inside-out and backwards.

As soon as possible join the CSSA and/or the NFA (preferably both). The more gun license holder, more gun owners, more guns owned, more ATTs used, more CSSA and NFA members there are in Canada, the harder it will be for the politicians to take your freedom away.

Your biggest frustration will be that you have to drive outside city limits to do most stuff. But it's not that bad, and we have access to some excellent ranges depending on what your interests are.

Also, if handguns are your main interest, I recommend Target Sports / The Grange gun club. Easy drive from Toronto, great store, friendly people, and they can give you all the necessary courses.

Welcome... Don't be shy about posting questions. The only silly question is the one not asked! We were all once in your position!
