I greet you all from the Netherlands, Europe.
This forum was suggested to me by someone and I think it is a good one for me. Since 1989 I am a sport shooter. I am active in more than one disciplines.
Also I have great interest in pistols and revolvers with the accent on S&W revolvers. I have three, a 617, 686 and 696.
In the Netherlands we are allowed a max. of five guns, otherwise I would probably have 50 S&W revolvers. (used ones are cheap here)
I like to alter my guns to my wishes. My S&W revolvers I have made look more classic, my CZ75 looks like a Tanfoglio/witness now.

The last few years my interest in antique guns has grown. These are free to own. I collect pinfire revolvers and now I move to percussion and flintlock pistols.
I like to restore them, something that keeps the hobby acceptable in costs.
Mainly for the antique I hope to find a good forum here.

Notice there's no regulation on barrel length. Wish it were so here.

Welcome to the site. Looking forward to a European outlook on some of the topics here.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

We do have barrel length rules. 2,5" is minimum and above 6"is to long accept when you can prove your club can let you shoot silhouette.
And we have calibre rules, above 45 is a no so 500S&W magnum etc is excluded, accept again for silhouette. But there are just 2 clubs in the country that shoot silhouette.
There are more small rules witch I will not bore you with.

Also the justice and government are busy with new rules after we had our shooting incident. So we are anxious to see what they come up with.

No, hunting only with rifles and you need a hunting permit.
I have a sport shooting permit.
Then again, there is not so much nature as in Canada. It is not really attractive for me to become a hunter.

What's the availability of guns over there like, can you get almost anything over there? Are you allowed to own anything tactical like an AR15?

The availability of some guns is difficult but when you really want one. S&W 696 is never sold here only a few in Europe. I have found one in Switzerland. A buddy of mine is importing a FN pistol from the states which already takes 9 months now.
Used the prices are low here, that is good.
tactical is allowed, AR15 and clones are popular.
