Hello, i'm fairly new to firearms my pal hasnt come in the mail yet but ive been assured its on its way.. I'm probably going to have a few newbie questions ( the ones i can't sort out on my own anyways ) i took my non restricted as well as my restricted. some firearms i hope to purchase in the near future would be a simple remington 870 or mossberg 590 ( for my lengthy hikes threw beautiful british columbia ) or perhaps a 45/70 lever.. and for my "rifle" i'm thinking something along the lines of a 308 win, 300 win mag, 7mm, or .260 rem. i'm still debating and working out the pro's and con's of eaceh, trying to find the best ammunition for the cheapest cost ( who isnt ) mossberg has a nice looking rifle but i heard the short actions burn out your barrels im not sure if this is true or not and if someone could clear this up for me that would be SPLENDID!! heres a link http://www.mossberg.com/products/default.asp?id=35&section=products
and for my after school aggression at the range i'm thinking of a ruger 45. :dancingbanana: anyways, thats the jyst of it, ill be around

For a hiking shotgun you might want to take a look at Canada Ammo's shorties. I have one of the 12.5" versions and think the quailty is on par or better than my Remington 870 Express for less $.

I started out with a couple of 45's and now find myself shooting my 22lr pistols a lot more often due mostly to the price of ammo.
 
Welcome aboard, I'm a gun nut but I always have lot's of questions. These guys usually come up with the perfect answer to every question in short order. Don't hesitate to ask.
 
Un-restricted. The laws are very convoluted to say the least.

One can take a 30" barrel and using a hacksaw or other means cut it down to 18.5" with it still keeping an un-restricted status but if you were to cut it to 18.4" or shorter it would become prohibited. If a barrel or complete firearm is 'manufactured' with a barrel that is shorter than 18.5" AND the overall lenght of the firearm is greater than 26" then it is still deemed as un-restricted.

and i put vancouver~ish, because im staying all over teh lower mainland right now while im bouncing back and forth between school, work, apprenticeship, and career training..
