Hello from Woodbridge, ON

Hi Everyone,

Looking forward to get involved in shooting but I have never shot anything other than a .22 rifle. I'm just starting to look into gun clubs, training, PAL, etc. Eventually I would like to get started with a Glock 19 but that will take some time to complete all of the above.

Can anyone recommend a good gun club in my area (400 & Rutherford)?

Any comments regarding Target Sports Canada or the Aurora Gun Club?

Hello and welcome. I'm sure that there are a lot of folks here who would be happy to share opinions and information. I'm on Nova Scotia's South Shore and don't know anything about your area. Besides, I think you'll get better response if you bring up topics of that sort in the General Firearms Discussion forum. Enjoy the site.

I live just a bit north of you near Schomberg & belong to the Barrie Club.

Target sports is indoor & is a nice facility. Not one of the cheaper ones around.
Aurora is supposed to be also a nice club but they are doing renovations right now.

Again though , welcome.
 
TWO BAD FOR YOU = none is available unless you are willing to drive to Burlington or Hamilton or Guelph . One in Barrie on Hwy 89 & 400 for shot guns only . There is one really close to Woodbridge and they will guide you to their doors very quickly when they find out you are not Rich Enough=Too Bad For You .


I don't mean to discourage you right at beginning and you possibly could face many many troubles from you parents, to neighbours, to ex's, to teachers, to politicians,and big brothers but people who stood firm to their beliefs made the difference and we urgently need them on our side to be good ambassadors in this sport = WELCOME ABOARD - Biggs
 
When I lived in Woodbridge, I was a member of the Barrie Gun Club.


...thinking of Woodbridge, I'm craving a veal on a bun & some cannolis(insert drool face here). :)

There are lots of options... Orangeville, Sharon, Barrie, Islington, Ajax, Oshawa... Kudos to you for making a start and not having any direct connections to this great sport. What are you most interested in... shooting in general (long guns, handguns, action sports...)? Do you want to get into hunting? Ask lots of questions, read even more. This site is probably the best forum in Canada for you to find what you need, bearing in mind there are those whose advice may not be the best for you. That is the most important part, find what works best for you.
PM me, we can arrange a time to go to my club and try some different firearms and answer some of your questions.
