hey...i have a 16" .22lr bbl that's threaded for 1/2 x 28. i want to put a flash hider on it but this is new ground for me. too many models. too many videos.

what works best? thanks for your help...

It will do nothing for performance or flash and will be entirely for cosmetic effect so just pick one that looks cool and is in your price range.
A 22 doesn't have the pressure required to take advantage of a brake and a 16 inch will be long enough to burn all the powder by the time the bullet leaves the muzzle.

A $15 or $20 A1 or A2 wii do the job, unless you want something fancy.

+1. I put an A2 on my 12" 10/22 SOCOM replica.

I recently purchased a factory contoured 11.5" barrel. I want to put the same flash hider on it. Where did you get yours? DId you use a crusher?

It is just a standard A2 flash hider for the AR-15, any AR dealer should have them on the shelf. I think I bought it from Fabsports but my memory is a bit hazy on that. Yes, I used the crush washer. There is no way to properly index it if you don't use a crush washer or the peel and stick washers.
