HELP! 54 Russian rear sight removal.

Tried youtube tricks but mine has a pin going through that needs removal prior to the push down/pop out. any tricks to remove the little pin? I tried with a little nail and it isnt budging

Stronger pin and Hammer. I had to wack mine pretty hard with a small screw driver bit ( like a small Torx ) as a starter before my punches would take it out. I put it between a small pair of vise grips to save my thumb from being hit.

Only way I could get the pins out on my 91/30 and my 91/59. Then had to flip it UP and Keep it Inline.

you trying to get the rear sight off to put a scout mount on? assume this is a mosin or a SKS?

need a real punch, been bending nails trying to get it out that way. stay tuned lol

The pins you see through the base are the sight ears....they don't come out.

They ride in slots in the base, if you hammered on them, good chance they peened and are stuck in there permanent.

Some only have the ears. Some also have an extra skinny pin to prevent removal. I suspect that is what the OP has.

Correct, knock out the pin if it has one inside, then tap the sight at a .45 degree angle down & out.

penetrating oil, let it sit, or warm it up with torch and punch away
