Looking for a scope for my new Savage 10PC.

I am looking to spend under $700 all in, and have been looking at the 4-16 magnification with a 40 or 42mm bell to try and keep this gun from becoming obnoxiously big and heavy.

Already have 1 inch rings so no 30mm tubes.

Target turrets are not a must but wold be nice.

Most importantly I want a scope that I don't have to second guess, and can put full confidence in.

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

4scopes.com
Great website, please check local costs and compare to 4scopes. I bought a sightron s3 and saved over $200 ontop of shipping/taxes using this site. What ever you choose, price check! Some stores want huge margins, others sell more so there margins are small, or they just don't gouge us!

While that doesn't help with the selection it definitely makes a big difference!!! ;)

Bushnell makes an Elite Tactical 5-15x40 with target/tactical turrets and a mil-dot reticle. You should have no trouble staying within budget with that one.

Get a hold of Jerry at Mystic Precision, tell him your budget and what you want to do and he will have the best glass for your budget.

You are just touching on getting a SIII on that budget, maybe a visit to the EE and you'll have one. ;)

Sightron SII big sky 6.5-20X50 LRMOA. Mildot is also an option but if you try the MOA reticle, you will not go back to mildots.

For any difference in price vs your budget, you will save a ton on future scope swaps.

Very simple - this is the best LR (non BR) 1" scope on the market!

Remember that if you go with a front AO scope, the actual scope diameter will likely be LARGER then the side focus 6.5-20. Check the actual scope measurements.

You will be blown away by the optics on this Big Sky scope. I do not recommend the older SII scopes. For what you may save, you will just get frustrated and end up at the Big Sky or SIII in time anyways.

Ultimately, you will need to decide if you want a scope you will love and keep or a budget you will regret....

I have gone to night force and have put a nearly new " year or so old " leupold VX3 4.5-14x40 BC on EE for $675 shipped , aluminum leupold flip caps. not sure if it what your looking for but it is a very nice scope.

Again I just got hooked on NF and my new compact is here

Really wish Sightron made a 4-16 or even 3-12 or 4-12. I find I prefer extra magnification at the range but 6x seems like too much min in the field.

I just bought an SII Big Sky 4-16x42.......

I don't see anything in the SIII line, but lots in the sII Big Sky lineup.

Take a look at Hirsh Precisions website for a list of all the models available. There are lots of em.
