Help !! 8mm Ammo

I've been there too. Picked up almost two cases of surplus rounds, one shot good, the other did not. Pulled them apart for reloads, and sold off the rest of powder and bullets to almost make my money back.

I am convince now. I will take them a part and realod with new brass and primers.

Does anyone know where i can get a good compleate realoding kit ??
And how should i pay for a kit like this.

Again, thanks everyone for the advice :)

You won't be doing any really stange stuff, at least not at first. Lee equipment is the cheapest on the market and it is good stuff. They make several presses and their die sets come with shellholders. Their priming tools work okay, even the little hand priming tool (which I really like). Check their website and, if you are not rich, order from Lee Factory Sales, which also has a website. They sell Lee equipment at US DISTRIBUTOR prices; most Canadian dealers sell at about double or more.

Good 8mm Mauser casings can be bought in Montreal from Trade Ex Canada (link at the top of this page, 10 o'clock from the CGN beaver). Primers need special shipping and it costs, so you likely are better to get them locally: Large Rifle, most brands are good (I have used, over the years, CIL, RWS, CCI, Winchester, Remington and Federal and they are all good).

For best accuracy, if you have just the one 8mm rifle, you might do well to try the Lee Collet Die. After first firing, your casings will be expanded to fit your rifle and likely no other, so you take advantage of this and you end up with more-accurate ammuntion.

You can set up with an adequate starting outfit for about $100. The one extravagance I would make would be a really good scale which will handle both bullets and powder and still be very accurate. I am using the RCBS 505. Lee makes a nice little scale but it is for powder only. AT FIRST you won't need a scale at all, as all you will be doing is changing charges over from one casing to another. But a scale is necessary when you start using your own powder.

BTW, you can get a bullet puller...... or you can just loosen the slugs from the Czech cases by putting the front of the cartridge into a piece of screwed-down 3/8" inside diameter tubing and bending the cartridge first one way, then another and pulling the slugs out with your fingers. Dump the powder into your new primed casing, add the bullet and seat it.... and head for the range.

Most important of all: have fun!

Hope this helps.
