Help a guy pick a cheap first 'real' pistol 200-400 range...

Seems like all you post about is how bad norincos are. How many have you actually owned?

You'd probably be surprised at how well their 1911's shoot out of the box. Or are honest 4'' groups not precise enough at 25 yards for a semi auto?

Oh and when should I expect mine to to fall apart? So far in 2000+ rounds mine hasn't given me one once of trouble. In fact Looking at the internals it barely looks like it's broken in.

Perhaps you should do a search on the np29 on here. As far as I can tell the people that own them aren't exactly throwing them away after a few sessions.

I'd definately recomend the norc line of 1911's in both .45 and 9mm for someone on a budget. Mine has faired well so far and even got me 4th place in the last bullseye competition our range had. Not too shabby considering everyone else brought wheelguns.

If norinco's don't turn your crank then I'd be looking in the EE for a good used gun. Sometimes you see a some good deals in your price range.
 
Get nine if you do not plan to reload. Get 45 if you are planning to reload. You won't go wrong with Norinco 1911. I have a NP29 and is a good straight shooter out of the box with no modification other than grips. To be truthful, I did some polishing job on the feeding ramp and the barrel throat and the magazine lips. All DIYs. I did not touch the trigger since I am not fond of hair triggers. It is very accurate with FMJ factory ammo specially Remington 115 FMJ RN. The accuracy deteriorate with lead reloads but still very good with FMJs. 45 is a complete different story; Lower speed and lower pressure cartridge so mostly lead bullets work fine and hence will cost the same amount that cost you to reload nines.
Another option to consider is Ruger P89 (I know that I am going to be accused again working for the Ruger marketing dept.). Mine dead accurate out of the box no polishing required and much higher quality, fit and finish. For this one, FTF and FTE is non-existent. It has been accused of being ugly and feeling like a brick. But change the standard issue grips with a hogue finger-grooved and transform the so called ugly handgun to a ###y rugged semiautomatic. In a higher price range though if bought brand new but, a used unit should be still within your reach.

well their fella i have owned 7 norincos and yes their quality is impressive for their price however i have also been very disapointed in some respect with every norinco i owned i have seen the light and now i buy mostly european and you cant tell me a norinco will take years of shooting well maintaining a high level of acuracy i have had norincos fall apart on me and this is a forum where all oppinions are welcome and my opinion is norinco are sh-t and for your information i had a norinco AK47 blow up in my face

I also have girlish hands and I found that the slide release on the CZ-75 is too far forward for my thumb to reach with out having to adjust my grip to a position I can not quickly recover from.
 
What will be the purpose of this 1st inexpensive handgun? What you want it for can make a difference. A Tokorev T33 isn't much for IPSC but may be fun to plink with. The 9mm and .45 Norinco's are okay for IPSC and maybe even local club bullseye competition ,but if you get serious they may not be competitive, but you can still compete and have fun with them. What you should get ,depends on the direction you want to go with your shooting , unless you just want to play around and then sell it and buy something more appropriate for the section of the sport you gravitate to. But check out the EQUIPMENT EXCHANGE for used guns, there have been some good deals pop up but the really good deals go fast , sometimes in 4 or 5 minutes. GOOD LUCK.
 
i just want to make it clear its not that i am putting down someones budjet i am just saying for the same price as a norinco one can find better quality firearms for the money in my opinion! So chill out norinco lovers

2: I own no norc's at the moment. In fact I own a USP, Sig 220, S&W, CZ. Any more misgivings on what I "wish" to own?
2: The reason for my initial comment was not because I am a norc supporter, but because it is impossible to understand anything you are trying to get across. It's not an "enlish class" as you put it, but damn.. your posts need deciphering.

Yeah, I picked up a old CZ-75 Pre-B model for $300 in January. Finish is banged up all to hell, but shoots great and is really comfortable.

I've heard that too, although I haven't had the chance (or the permission...;) ) to pick one up yet... better budget for an Armco-tune from what I hear though. Even with that factored into the purchase price, it still sounds like a good deal. It may be a little more money than your budget of $400 if you want to get it tuned too however...

Norinco's are like Hyandai's.......Cheap, but work good for many miles. I want to buy one in 9mm someday.
