well i think i might pick my self up a black powder.and i know 5h17 about them.i know im not looking for the classic style(Davy Crockett)im looking more at a break-action gun.i like the T?break-action gun.i like the T/C but its a little to price for something im trying out for the first time.i did see a model that cought my eye at frontier. http://ww.frontierfirearms.ca/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=17_21_75&products_id=87

Don't know anything about the modern stuff, but the older remake stuff is quite good quality.

Imho, go to a malahat marauders range day... they're one saturday or sunday of every month - it's on the malahat ranges website. Those guys are cutting playing cards in half, thinwise, and nocking down targets at 200 yards with their iron sighted guns. Just what I think though.

If you still want new inline blackpowder (I think that's it?) you can usually find some on the EE if you look. Don't know enough about them to suggest anything though.

By the way, unless I misread etc... the newer guns are still muzzle loading and not technically break action, unless you count the little loading gate for the cap. I could very well be speaking out of my butt though.

Welcome to the world of muzzleloading!! I think your choice with a break-action inline is a good one. This makes cleaning & loading much easier. CVA inlines are fairly popular right along side Traditions models. Try to get your hands on "Blackpowder Handbook" by Sam Fadala. This is a great book full of information on powder, projectiles & accessories you'll require, not to mention load data. Good luck
 
I know the purists are gonna hate me for this but I love my Savage ML-II. It's so much cleaner shooting smokeless powder and there's always the option of using BP if you want. Mine has filled a deer tag every year since I've bought it and shoots 1" groups at 100 yards.....
 
When you hear that SMACK of a .50 bullet dropping your first deer...bliss. My el cheapo CVA inline always filled my freezer, and my Knight disc has yet to let me down. Have fun.
 
I love my .54 hawkin rifle for big game. Shooting BP guns is a natural progression for shooting/hunting skills. Its takes more skill in handling and will fine tune marksmenship skills. I suggest a primitive muzzle loader instead.
 
Its kinda funny, cause my original venture into bp shooting & hunting started with an in-line. I settled on a TC Encore 209x50. I now own 2x .54 sidlelocks and 2x .50 sidelocks.
I actually prefer to shoot the sidlelocks over my inline. Yeah, sabots and black powder subsitutes (pellets) are quicker, cleaner & faster. But the smell of rotten eggs, black dirty hands and sending a handcast ball or conical downrange then looking for your patch as you walk to check your target is more satisfying for some reason? Not to say that my inline won't get used anymore, it surely will. But the sidelock(s) deserves its turn to fill the freezer.
You know another funny thing? I started out with a compound bow and just recently picked up a longbow.....it'll get its turn too!!
 
If you do buy an inline, be sure to get 209 ignition. The accessories your gonna have to buy before you can even fire a shot or clean your rifle are gonna run you about $100.00.
