Help a newbie out installing his scope please.

Find a one piece picatinny base for your rifle, your mounting problems solved. You'll want high rings for a 50mm optic
Not necessary.
Due to the 4-8mm rise of the rail alone, you can often use medium height rings. (I dont know why ultra low profile pic rails are not commonly available).
As it happens, i use mediums on my 56mm scopes (one low) and lows on my 50mm bells.
Pic rails and high rings will likely mean you will be looking for a “chin” weld.

yes asking on line is just a shot in he dark take to a knowledgeable shop where all items needed are on hand many options from that approach
Yes but at the same time I don't want to go in blind. I want to have made.some research and gather into so I am not sold something I don't want or subpar equipements and what not.

I gotta agree with struff55.
While you are doing some research by asking here, you have to have some trust in a fully stocked sporting goods store and not a big box store like bass/cabelas.
They are in the business of selling bits and bobs and will gladly sell you the store and the kitchen sink.
Find a smaller mom and pop shop and see what they have in-stock.
They will likely offer some assistance in fitting to find the correct fit for your application.
Epps, Reliable, Dante Flarhety are just but a few shops who are or who have been sponsors to this site who are more than capable of sorting your conundrum out in short order and be fiscally responsible to your needs.
Not knowing your province or general location it is impossible to point you in the right direction and recommend a Good place to start.

First off definitely get a picatinny rail with a 20 moa cant, just gives you better options in the now and future.
Then what you want to do is hover your scope exactly in your preferred position over the rail which is typically as low as possible but not touching the barrel. Your scope caps should be equipped at this step.
Take some calipers and measure the distance between the top of the rail and the bottom of the scope tube. This is now your minimal scope ring saddle height.
Go on the internet and find scope rings that are at the least what your saddle height is.
When you get your rings mount them to the rail and use a scope ring lapping kit to true them up together.
Then put your scope on and torque all the screws down to spec.

Much depends on rail thickness, reciever top height to barrel, allowance for scope caps. Sure possibly medium might work.

I use medium rings on 40mm obj with lower profile picatinny base. Not a whole lots of room left over..

There are more pluses than minus to using a pic rail but I do understand your desire for dedicated rings. I like mine set with dedicated rings too but mine are all short action magnums.IMG_0910.JPG
That's VX-5HD 3-15x44 30mm tube on silver low Talley mounts. The rifle is a 270WSM XB SS LR.
I also have VX-6HD 4-24x52 34mm tube on tungsten medium Browning (Talley) mounts. The rifle is a 6.8wstrn XB mountain pro LR.
Your 50mm objective lens will probably need medium rings. Part #12532 burnt bronze, but call Browning 1-800-383-3288 Cheers

You got two problems with your scope , the tube is not long enough and it has 50 mm bell.
Look at the rail in the picture I posted.

When you slide the scope back ,so your not goose necking ,the front of your scope will bring up in the rail.
That why I chopped it off.
Secondly, so you don’t end up with a chin weld, you hopefully can use a set of low rings.
PM your address and you can have the rail in the picture I posted. Free
It’s for a browning Xbolt 7mm rem mag.
Not sure if it’ll fit your 30 06 but it’ll give you an idea of what you need.
The screws are missing but shouldn’t be hard to source.

That's very kind of you but I wouldn't be comfortable accepting, they're expensive heh.

But in all seriousness, do you guys think it's me who just bought a scope who's not compatible with my rifle ???

You can get longer tube scopes… I had a bushell firefly 3x9x44 with Xbolt ( Tally low rings)?
Was perfect.
But I’m not shooting anymore brownings anymore.
So the rail is useless as it’s modified, no screws and it weighs a ton. Good quality ATRS steel..lol
It might give you a better understanding of what a rail is like.
Browning Xbolt LA stamped right on her .. lol

Take the kind offer and pay it forward another time to a Nutter in need, one of the great things about this forum.

I think you’re overthinking it now that your original plan didn’t happen, it happens sometimes. Don’t sweat it, figure out a new plan and if that scope is more hassle than anything to mount on that gun you already have your next rifle’s optic.

There is always another rifle that will follow you home. 😂

Leupold makes their Backcountry rings for your rifle in a medium or high mount if you are set on a one piece, you should be able to flip those around to fit your spacing requirements.

Google Talley problems before you waste your money on them.

Talleys on a Browning…

Whaaaat how did that happened?!?

Happens with disappointing regularity on Talley aluminum rings. Those ones broke in the off season in a gun safe, if I recall correctly. Full disclosure, those weren’t mine, they were a buddies rifle. I don’t Browning, so that was the only pic I had of Talleys on a Browning. I have a few of my own pics of broken Talleys, but they are on Kimbers and RMR’s.
