So I have been interested in reloading shotgun shells and I have been doing a lot of research . I am only interested in reloading for duck/goose hunting . I have shot a few types of shells and realized that hevi metal kills the dead no question but it so much $$$$$ so I was looking to see if I can duplicate their shells .... I have been looking at shot like hevi , itx, itx13, heavyweight 13 and I was looking to do a mix of steel and the other type of shot to keep the cost down but it has been hard to find info on people doing a mix of the two . Has anyone here do anything like this if so what do you use and what kind of cost are you getting ? I know there's no beating the heavier shot ... But is it worth it to try to reload a similar shell as hevi metal !?
That's for any info

Have never heard or seen any info on mixing and been reloading steel since a year after it became law 1993??. You don't need anything but quality fast steel reloads to kill if your gun is designed for steel
Pick up a rsi manual and everything you need is there. Pattern your gun is the key
I do standard and duplex loads but all steel shot in 10ga and 12ga 3" and 3 1/2" to the tune of 12 to 20 boxes some years
All rsi loads with STEEL powder, sam1 wads and high end Super Sam shot

That company is based in USA. Did you order from them or is there a Canadian retailer?
Do you know the prices roughly. None on the website.

Hi:
When I started it was no problem they would ship to canada but stopped like everyone else did with the export BS
Powder I get from Hummasons, wads and shot Wsports or special order locally

Charse off the top of my head I can quote mainly 10ga. Have only started playing a bit with 12 in the last 7 or so years
In 10ga I am over 1625 fps with 2 of the duplex which is more than enough to kill geese.
The rsi loads that worked best for me in the 10ga was no.97,99,100 and 101. 80% base with 20% over top.
Every shell was done also by hand one at at time no bushings or universal shot bars.
Duplex is tricky and you have to spend a lot of time shooting paper with various choke tubes to get some to work and not all do which is why some think it is no better than regular loads but if you put the time in and find that magic mix it is
BB/1 BBB/BB and TT/ BBB are my favorites for geese for pass shooting and straight 1 and bb over decoys
with briley IM tube
Cheers
