Help and advice building a 'tactical' 870.

As a little project I'm looking to build a 'tactical' 870 shotgun.

At present I have an 870 with rail, side saddle, Magpul forend and Magpul SGA stock. The stock is great but I just want to try something new.

I'm looking to build it after this example.

Can anyone recommend an adapter like this for sale from a Canadian store? It's a 'Mesa 870 LEO Adapter' and someone kindly directed me to where they are for sale in Canada but I'm open to finding one a little cheaper if they have those.

Also a heads up on where I can pick up a Mil Spec Buffer Tube & Castle Nut would be great too. thanks

You won't get that adapter from can tire. Actually the setup you have sounds good to me. I tried one of those rigs, and no matter what I did I couldn't get my cheek low enough for a sight picture and the web of my hand felt too cramped with that grip. (and personally that unit is just butt ugly, but that's just me)

Personally, if you have an SGA stock already, I'd stick with that.

Called it a day. Sight sits a little high, might switch to the ghost sights. Not a fan of the grip either, magpul K grip. Going to put on a rubberized moe+ (I'll just have to saw part of it off)

They look nice, but I am not going to lie, I sold all but one of my 870s....

All tac-ed up, and noe were fun... Now I have a supernova that is much better.

And my 870 is a riot style gun... Also a riot to shoot.

An Ergo grip might be a better match for an M4 stocked SG, might also want to try the Magpul riser for the CTR

I tried a Urbino stock on one of my 870 builds. I think the Magpul SGA is better in every way. Just my opinion but your setup sounds great as it is now.

Definitely regret selling the SGA stock. I'm looking to buy another one.
I had to use sandpaper and file down the magpul forend, it sits too high to use in conjunction with a heat shield.

I hear you Dave, I'm looking to pick up a nicer semi-auto for 3-gun but I'll keep this as a zombie gun. I don't have many 12ga anyways so it's not bad.

Are there any rubberized grips that are flat across the top like the k-series in my picture? Ar style grips with the curved area on top like a moe+ won't fit. Sawing it down is going to look sketchy.

Ergo makes a couple of flat top styles for both shotguns and chassis systems - for example

Yeah, but the SGA looks like - well, doesn't look like it's particularly good until you use it.

I think the SGA looks great and feels even better.

Those stock adapters are the exact opposite IMHO.

The CTR stock is not a comfortable on a shotgun or pleasurable to shoot. (.223 rounds on the other hand...)
