HELP AR180B broke in half!!

Warning!
Do not allow the rifle to driop open. The pivot pin area might get damaged.

Don't take this as an accusation - just pointing out that Armalite was aware of this type of damage happening....

Had the same problem, mine started to crack around one of the pivot pin holes. Sent it back to John at wolverine and he got the complete lower replaced for me.

Armalite seems to have beefed up the amount of material around the pivot pin holes now.
 
The previous owner knew what he e=was doing and I don't think he would of let it swing open and especially not enough to stress it enough to shear off like it did.

Concealed-Did the new lower you received have the beefed up area around the holes or is that just for newly manufactured ones? Also did he ask for proof of purchase or anything like that??
 
I'm going to say the upper was allowed to swing open and this weakened the pivot pin hole. It doesn't matter how much care you give your rifle, accidents happen.
 
Armedsask- in your opinion do you think they will not warranty this, in case they don't do you have any idea how much a lower would cost?

I can not honestly answer on the warranty issue.

Wolverine could give you a quote a new lower. If you can't find a new lower and plan on buying a whole new rifle, I may be interested in your broken rifle.
 
I don't imagine i'll be buying a whole new rifle as I just spent my gun budget on this one and I only got 15 rds through it, I like the rifle but I have no money left and I have a rifle that I can't use so I would like to fix it as cheap and easy as possible and just forget about this whole thing and just enjoy the rifle.

Nah, if it was a Norinco it'd have a forged receiver that tested out to RC58
 
No adhesive will be strong enough, because there isn't enough surface area.

Figure epoxy/superglue does about 3000psi in tension, 1/10 of that in peel. Calculate the number of square inches in the broken part and figure out how strong the join will be. Not very. The first time you open it up and torque to one side or the next it will come apart.

Agreed. Only fix would be to either melt/bond the platic back together (unsightly and iffy) or replace the lower.
