Hi,

I just purchased an upper off the EE......

Noveske upper 12.5” SS barrel with KX3 pig (no BCG, CH or sights)

Now what???

Lower?
Bolt Carrier group?
Charging handle?
Sights?

Looking for quality stuff to match the rest.

Thanks!

An update:

Thanks to the Questar inventory clearance, the ever excellent EE and a Brownell's order, my build is now at:

Upper:
- Noveske 12.5 Crusader (EE)
- LMT standard bolt carrier group (Questar)
- BCM Gunfighter charging handle - Mod4 (Brownells)

Lower:
- Magpul UBR stock in FDE (EE)

Extras:
- Magpul AFG2 foregrip
- Troy HK style front & rear flip sights (EE....if they ever arrive!)
- Aimpoint T1 2moa (Questar)....or
- Nightforce NSX 1-4x24 scope (EE) mounted in a Larue SPR 1.5 (EE)
- Blue-force gear Vickers sling (Brownells) + 2x VLTOR quick detach sling swivels (Brownells)
- Surefire U2 light w/ rail mount (Christmas gift)

=========================

I'm hoping to get a Noveske Gen II stripped lower (fingers crossed on a fellow CGNer importing)

Other than that - what else do I need?
- Any recommendations on a lower parts kit?
- Do I need a buffer tube with the UBR?
- Any "must have" tools to assemble the stripped lower + parts kit?
- anything major I am forgetting?

No mags yet; any recommendations? Are the 10 rounders from Questar the way to go, or Magpul 5 rounders?

The UBR is in FDE, but everything else is black.....hope that doesn't look funny, but I'll take whatever the EE will give me at a good price!

wish the pics were better, but iPhone was the easiest way to get on photobucket. I will take better pics as the project progresses.

awesome build...

look into a DD or armalite LPK.

no need for tube with your stock but you need a spring and buffer

Nice build but... NF scope and Aimpoint, Noveske upper, UBR in the back and then you put a SureFire light in some POS mount at the 6 o'clock position? Seems strange to me.

Would you mind posting $$$ for the build?

Thanks

Sure - no problem.....just don't tell my wife ;-)

Noveske Upper: $1150 (EE)
Nightforce: $900 (EE)
Larue: $150 (EE)
Troy sights: $200 (EE)
Aimpoint: $580 (Questar)
LMT BCG $180 (Questar)
Magpul UBR: $300 (EE)
Magpul AFG2: $40 (Questar)
Gunfighter Charging Handle: $50 (Brownells)
Vickers sling: $75 (Brownells)
2x VLTOR swivels: $35 (Brownells)

I don't think I'm saving any money building vs. buying off the shelf, but I'm having way more fun trying to track down all the parts I want :)

The surefire and mount were a Christmas present. I like the light (although not sure if it would have been the exact Surefire model I would choose) and the mount is what the sales guy at TSE recommended. It works, but I couldn't tell you if it's a good one or a POS.

It can mount on any of the quad rails; for now it seems to work the best mounted on the bottom rail but hanging out to the left.

May replace it one day, but a light was never a key part of the build, so this will work for now ;)

looks good OP, but I'm not a big fan of the light setup. As for the stock, buy a box of black RIT clothing dye ( any big grocery chain will carry it) and do your stock black... it's easy, cheap, and it works awesome.

here is a job I just did on a Glock Roni kit, just look up "dyeing plastic with fabric dye" on YouTube

the dye absorbs at least 1/16" into the plastic, is permanent and will not scratch or scuff off.
here is the color it started as

Damn nice dying job PBR. I was actually looking up acid dyes for dying nylon ukulele strings, never figured dying synthetic gun stock/parts. :)

Geiselle SSA trigger is nice, better than some junko match trigger for what you have there.

Update.....just ordered a few more bits. Gen II lower should be here in 2 weeks.

Vickers sling, QD mounts and gunfighter charging handle finally arrived from Brownells....will add pics soon, but look awesome!

Trigger: Geissele super 3 gun (Arms East)
Grip: Magpul MIAD black (Wolverine)
Mags: 4x LAR 10 pistol mags (EE)
Buffer tube and spring: unknown (EE)
Extra: Noveske K9 Barricade support (EE)

Still trying to track down some non-fake Troy BUIS and a lower parts kit, although with the above - do I need a kit (most seem to include grip and trigger) or just the pins?

What tools do I need to install everything on a virgin lower?

Will be adding a BAD lever and a BAD ASS safety as well if I can track them down.

Also......I think I have a sickness. confession time:
1) there was a Magpul PRS on the EE for a good price and I have always liked these, so I picked it up for a future project
2) I decided that this future project needed the accu-shot monopod on the PRS, so I grabbed one from Wolverine
3) no sense having a monopod without a bipod, so I grabbed an accu-shot Atlas bipod. Hope this is nice
4) this future project looks like precision build, so when I ordered my 3 gun trigger, I got a DMR trigger as well.

I'll hopefully get a 2nd Gen II lower (depending non landed cost).

Now the question is: what goes on top of this next build?

My first AR started upper 1st and I worked my way down; this is now lower first going up.

This is a bad hobby!
