Help buying .22 semi auto

I am really wanting a .22 semi auto pistol. My problem is I want one that looks cool and functions well. Those don't seam to go together.

So what would be your pick out of the Sig Mosquito, Walther P22, Beretta Neo, GSG 1911, Chiappa 1911?

I like the look of the mosquito, and the p22. I don't like the pot metal they are made of and the reliability issues I read about. The Beretta Neo seams like the best all around for accuracy and function, but I am stuck on the 3011 future look.

Anyone have or knows someone who has shot the german sports guns GSG 1911" thats a cool looking gun. supposivly made with all steel. $360ish makes me wonder. Same weight as a 1911 and threaded barrel. Everything I have read is positive, anyone read or know of any negatives?

What about chiappa 1911? I know nothing about them except they look like a 1911.

Any others of similar style that I am missing? I want one that looks like a combat type pistol (1911 or glock..). Before someone comments on functionality over looks, I don't compete, I don't care if it is super acurate, but fairly acurate is nice, I only want it for fun. It's like buying a sports car, it's not practicle but people like the way it performs, others just like the way it looks. This is a toy, the way it looks does matter.

All suggestions and comments are greatly appreciated.
 
My personal opinion of the best performing and still good looking .22 semi's are what everyone mostly says here. The Browning or the Ruger.

That browning does look cool. I have seen it before while searching and forgot all about it. Is that a Buck Mark Contour? If I remember right, I think this is suppose to be very accurate with no feeding or shooting issues right? Anyone have anything negative to say about this?
 
I have a Browning URX which is about 5 years old now and have many hundreds of rounds of every type of ammo. through it.

It eats pretty much everything with no jams. I've had a couple of stovepipes with some really cheap hollow point stuff once and maybe a half dozen FTF's but that's due to the ammo not the gun.

And yes it's very accurate. More than I am.
 
GSG 1911 is the way to go smooth action stout built awsome shooter, and you cant go wrong with the price tag
 
The CZ 75 Kadet is another option. I would choose the .22 version of the P226 over a Mosquito if you wanted to go the SIG route.

I believe that the Chiappa and GSG 1911 lookalikes both have zinc alloy frames and slides.

Personally, I think my S&W Model 41 looks pretty cool.

You might want to look into the ISSC M22. There are only a very small number of these in Canada so you won't find a lot of people with personal experience with them.

I just got a Chiappa 1911, will be taking it to the range on Monday and will report back with a range report.

Initial thoughts: Nice weight, the trigger was surprisingly good and it was nice and easy to strip down.

Or, if you can afford a bit extra, look at a Sig P226 in .22lr (much better than the Mosquito from what I've heard).

Edit: Wendell beat me to it. Man, that Kimber 1911 looks fantastic, but $1000....
 
I bought a Browning Buckmark Camper about 6 months ago and have shot about 1000 rounds through it, accurate,reliable and I like the way it looks (luger like). It was also inexpensive at $329.00 plus tax. It likes Blazer and American Express bulk ammo so it is cheap to shoot.

In regards to the Beretta Neos, if you do consider one, be warned that there's a recall on some of them at the moment, so you'd want to make sure that the one you get isn't affected by said recall.

I'm still waiting for the work to be done on mine so I can get it back.
 
I've gotta throw my Walther P22 in the ring, good looking gun and dependable, I also have a High Standard Citation that makes the Walther seem like something that you would throw at the target instead of shooting it, but there was a huge difference in price.
 
smith and wesson 422 is a good choice. you can find them used for around 250-300, but i have thought about getting the chaippa 22 as well
 
I am glad I made this post now. I have never come accross that S&W 41 or the sig 229/226. Nice guns for sure. I really like that kimber but $1000 I could put towards something much better. I just want a cheap plinker for nothing but pure cheap fun.

I am going to look more into that S&W 41 to see what the reviews are like and what they go for. I did look into that issc but they seam to new to form an opinion.

so far Buck Mark seams like the solid choice, except in my area it seams they only have the conture in a 7.5 barrel available and the 5.5 looks 1000 times better, which is I'm sure the one pictured in post 2.

I seen one positive on this thread for the walther p22, anyone else have anything else to say about it? From what I read it seams both the p22 and the mosquito are both hit and miss for quality.

I have not personally owned either a sig mosquito, or the walther, but do know people who have.

Each of them has has either nothing but good things to say, or curse the day they bought them...from what I've heard and read, there doesn't seem to be any opinions in the middle...
