I just received a rifle today with a tango down forward verticle grip The grip is secured to the rail by two bars under spring tension There are tabs on either side of the bars that can be pressed, presumably to remove or slide the grip But, you need 3 hands and a lot of strength to do it. What a stupid ####ing design. I am about reading to smash it off with a hammer. If you know how to remove one of these grips, then please let me know.

seriously man, I love the Tango Down Grips and your positive that ####er is never coming off the rail... but MAN is it a pain to install and a pain to adjust.

they do have a new model with a quick release now.

I've seen it done with c-clamps or mini f-clamps.

I had the same problem with mine. Here's what I did to rectify the situation. Place the rifle vertically with the butt on the floor and the barrel straight up. Get someone to hold down the tabs for you. Get something solid, yet softer than the plastic grip, and tap it as close to the hand guard as possible. For this I used a rubber mallet so as not to mar the surface of the grip or the finish on the metal handguard. I tapped it hard enough to move it a few millimeters at a time until it was completely off the handguard. Hope this helps.

Hold the rifle between your knees, push down the tabs, push the grip off. It's not rocket science. I pop mine off no trouble at all. It takes longer to remove the rail panels.

Easy big fella....step back..count to 20....take another hit off your glass of Merlot.. and do what Armedask said!
Then go out and buy the quick release version....soooo much nicer to use.

actually that "stupid" design was made that way to minimize the very thing you are complaining about. It was designed for machine guns to be used in combat. YOu can use zip ties through the latches and tightened to move it. The moved grip can then have the ties cut off.

Push down on the tabs on one side. Insert the square ends of plastic zip ties into the square holes. Press down other side, do same. Now you have two hands free to move the grip up and down.

At first I was surprised at how difficult some people find this simple task. Then I remember the 47 page thread on how to undo a simple screw to remove a VZ58 stock.
