Help choosing a .50 bmg rifle

i piped up on wolverine's forum on the beautiful-but-financially-out-of-reach AI .50
(sorry wolverine, but that was also a genuine request for something affordable for the workin' folks too ;-)
so i'll say it again, ...how are all these Barrets coming into the country if .50's are not permitted to be exported by the U.S.gov?
has that export ban been lifted? if so, why not the Serbu single shot, bolt action, with walther lothar match barrel for $2300 msr price?
half the price of a steyr, good quality, ...seems like a no brainer to me (cost being the draw back of .50's for most folks).
any retailers wanna tackle this one? or explain the why-not of it?

so, no retailers/sponsors willing to say anything about this? how are the Baretts getting exported out of the U.S.?
