Help choosing first shotgun

Are you really talking about the game of Skeet, or talking about shooting clay birds in a field behind the barn.
Skeet is a game with high and low towers that house the target launchers, and a semi- circle of shooting positions.
It makes a big difference to choice of shotguns.

Exactly, if he is talking about skeet, a used 1100 is a great choice in that price range.

I think mine is the 12 inch. I would fit?
Seems like a wise choice while I wait for a wingmaster or quality semi to come up cheap

Stoeger cóndor o/u used or any Turkish made o/u

I wouldn’t shoot at anything moving with a pump. It takes way too much coordination if you want a good second shot.
Not saying it can’t be done it’s just way easier with either an o/u or semi.

By far the most economical entry level repeating shotgun is a pump. It was the basic standard for many years. It can be used for clay target games, but is less than ideal. Having said that, back in history, many good scores at Trap and Skeet have been posted by a "skilled shooter" with a pump gun.

The next most economical shotgun, would be a used semi-auto, a Remington 1100, as Stubblejumper has suggested.

Buying an inferior, unreliable, and likely short-lived double barreled shotgun is not good economy.
The base level of buying a durable double shotgun is a used Browning or Beretta. Below that price point, reliability is a crap shoot.
There is something fundamentally wrong about buying a new gun as a fixer-upper.

trade ex site is full of quality double barrel shotguns for prices within the ops budget. A double barrel is far more fun shooting moving targets than a pump.

I would buy a repeater of good quality, made of real wood and steel.A good double barrel gun would fit that bill very well.I have a mossberg 500, and like it, but it doesn't compare to my BSW double. They were the same price used. 200 dollars each. The BSW is much, much better quality.Repeat the much a few more dozen times to get the idea. The Mossberg was built to be a cheap retail price, and the other was not.
