Help choosing some binoculars

Im looking for a gift for my brother for xmas. Whats the most powerfull binoculars or monoculars out there? My home in NFLD has a front view of the ocean, and about 2000 yards or more away is a beach that moose like to come out on. Plus there is seals etc... at certain times of the year.

The binoculars he has now just doesnt do that job.


Any recommendations? I was thinking a telescope last chance, one you look at the stars with lol.

7x50 bino's are standard. 10x50's are about as high as you can go for handheld. I have both and overlook the harbor. Standing on the deck looking at container ships etc, with practice,10x50's let you see lots.

Have you thought about a decent spotting scope? I like the Swarovski line.

I second the spotting scope idea if you are trying to see detail at 2000 yds +
