ahh, yeah right i get what ya saying an thats something i was kind of wondering about-With a MV of around 2500 fps, and if the bullets shoot, you’re essentially shooting a 250 meter cartridge, since they say 1800-1900 fps is minimum velocity for the 100 grain Grand Slam….. just so you’re aware.
The 85’s will give you pretty much another 100 meters range without dropping below the expansion threshold.
In essence the 6 x 222 REM Mag isn’t a 100 grain friendly cartridge, heck it was essentially built around 65-75 grain BR pills.
my theory is for that practical range- 0-250m that something with weight like 100gr might be alright pushed at that say 2500fps, would work for occaisonal Deer use!?!
i think il hang arond that 75-85gr range all things going well-
the hollow point will just be a range bullet to shoot some groups with an scratch the itch.
i think they would be fine for the Dogs too - so that ticks both boxes. the Data i have for it is 2994fps with 75 HPFB sierras.. an 2206h (4895)....
from what youre sayin, thats proberly about the 'sweet spot'
then i would like another bullet for 'deer' so il see how the 85gr BTSP work out an that should cover me then yeah!?
