Help deciding on Sig pistol

So should I just get a P226 in 22lr and just buy a 9mm conversation kit? The dealer says the 22lr is the best deal.

The Grade 1 and 2 refurbs are also a good option, from $699-799 for a German made 226. Some have a little holster wear, others have been beat up - have to look through the stock and pick the nicest one. This is probably the cheapest way to go and you can shoot it until you save enough money for the Scorpion, then sell your refurb on the EE. SFRC had a 10% off sale a little while back and the Grade 2's were selling for around $650!

The best option as others pointed out is to get the 226 Classic 22LR and buy an X-Change kit. About $600-$650 for a Classic and about $350-400 for an X-Change kit. Two guns for the price of a single P226 in 9mm.

Personally I prefer no-beaver tail on a 9mm, It's kind of pointless. I don't like night-sights either. It would be nice to have adjustable white 3-dot contrast sights though, like on my .22lr slide... front cocking serration's are a moot point. We can't carry, so I never find the need for press checks.

For the $ saved it's worth missing out on those few aforementioned options.

Then you did not build an Elite Dark. You just upgraded stock P226. You can't order a cheeseburger and add Mac Sauce to it and call it a Big Mac. :)

^LOL, fair enough... I'm going to warm up the Tig welder and fire on a beaver tail, and hit the slide with a Mill for some fwd serrations. A little glow in the dark paint fill in my sights and then I've got it!

Ya, definitely look into a CPO Sig. Like-new value at just south of 800 bucks, and many are Germans.

lol

You're right though, beaver tail on a 226 is just cosmetic and night sights are useless on a range use firearm. Fiber optics is where it's at. I do like front serrations for doing a press check since I've got dry hands. :)

Sig MK25 P226 Navy
Sig M11A1 P228 Compact

Sig P220 night sights, long trigger, tan finish/scorpion ultimate
Sig P220 Combat TB

Hands down the top model Sigs....IMO that is ;)

....but right on the money lol

A bit of a step up, but not over the top (imho anyways). Cabelas no longer lists them available on their site but I know for a fact the stores inventory differs quite a bit, plus when he rang it in it dropped $100 off posted price, so on sale but not marked as such, my lucky day lol.

I've got a couple P226 TAC-OPS in .40 cal - it just doesn't get any better!

The TAC-OPS is really just the renamed discontinued Blackwater pistol.

You don't see many TAC-OPS around (likely due to the sobering price tag), and finding one in .40 cal is even rarer (I had to special order both of mine ...) - but the combination of the SRT trigger, night sights, beavertail, and the SIG high standard of workmanship in unbeatable.

Definately my 'go to' pistol above all others.
