My reconditioned Pro 1000 came in the mail the other day and I have been setting it up and cycling it to check the function works.
I just about have it working like a clock. The only trouble spot is the disk powder measure... I have it assembled and attached to the press, the chain rigged up, but there must be a spring missing because the powder disk will not move forward on its own. The chain actuated lever will move it backwards, but there must be some spring-force to return it forward . . . no?
Would anyone else out there with a Pro 1000 do me a favour and have a look at the mechanism, there must be some sort of a return spring involved here.

Thanks, Emil

I have a spring on mine but it is on a single stage press.. I think on the 1000 the chain replaces the spring. The charging die will move it forward the chain will move it back.

Ah!

I see how it works now, thanks. I was "dry-firing" the press without shell casings in it so the measure was not moving . . . put a case in the holder and voila! It works fine.

LOL yeah I was gonna say that, the press is done to eliminate double charge and powder dumping when there is no shell.

I have used a Lee Pro 1000 for years .. is also doesn't hurt to give a disk a little rap with the handle of a small screwdriver to ensure all the powder has dropped to the case. You can get into quite a rythem .. I have on several occasions pumped out a box of 50 in less than 15 mins
