Help dumb question (Zero in scope)

Sorry guys buddy this is driving me crazy.

Went to the range tonight and tried to zero in my Colt M4A1 and my new Vortex PST1-4. Used my laser bore sighter and was high (12 clicks) and a little right. Brought it down perfectly and was shooting very nice groups just right of the bullseye.

Figured NP I will adjust left on the turret and that is where 50 rounds went. 2hrs later around 2am started getting tired and realized I have the bore sighter ended up being way right almost (11 clicks). I was turning left and right near the end and just falling apart.

Question if I was a little right of the bullseye should I have been turning the turrets right the opposite of where I wanted to go?

So you guys go easy on me haven't been to the range in about 2 years and haven't sighted in a scope in say 10. Kids got in the way of going to the range

Not sure about your boresighter but with mine if I put it in the bore and the scope shows it is right and high I have to turn the turrets right and up to actually move the cross hairs down and to the left. Once you start shooting and you find you are grouping to the right you will have to turn the turrets the direction shown to move left. I think the key here was you were getting tired and we tend to be distracted and make mistakes.
Go back to the range and fire 3 shots at your target. Move your scope the direction you need to go to put your point of impact on the bull. Repeat until the POI is where you want it.
Remember a bore sighter just gets you close. Once you are sighted in your bore sighter may tell you that you are6 or even 12 inches up down or sideways. That doesn't matter. Hope that helps.
 
When you are adjusting a scope, you are adjusting the point of aim, not the crosshairs.

If you are high and right, you need to adjust the scope left and down. Basically try to bring the shots to where you want to shoot.
 
Yep...think bullet impact.

Down on the elevation turret makes bullet impact go down. Left on the windage turret makes bullet impact go left
 
small adjustsments only.. Your turrets might say 1/4 in. clicks.. But might not be
Also scope might be NFG.. I've had that happen . more then once
Only way to know is drop on another scope!!
 
Ok so to be clear based on this image the bullet went just right of the target. I am going to adjust right as I am trying to now move the bullet right? Make sense now I was just not thinking last night.

So just to be clear up should move the POI up and right should move the POI right so to correct my issue I was correct in going left.

To test this could I use my bore sight laser and have laser to the right of dead centre of my cross hairs. Then I should adjust left to line them up emulating my issue?

Just throw the boresighter right into the garbage and use a large piece of cardboard.
 
Man you are way over thinking this. You are on paper leave the bore sighter in the bag now. Take 3 shots at the target at whatever didstance you want. If you are hitting right if you're point of aim then you will turn your knob in the left direction. If you are hitting high then you will turn in the down direction. Once you get it adjusted to where you want do not even think of putting that bore sight back in the barrel, you are done enjoy shooting. On a side note I never adjust until I've shot at least 2 shots at the same aim point just to make I didn't pull or flinch.
 
cool thanks guys ya loosing it a bit got super frustrated as I was like 1/2 moa from the bullseye before I messed around.
