Finally got to the range to test my new Questar's 10 Round LAR-15 Pistol Mags. Problem was, they didn't feed worth a crap!

I have a Colt AR 15 Hbar Sportster which has never FTF with regular 20/5 pinned mags. When I compare the LAR-15 Pistol Mags to my other AR mags, there is a difference in the design in the back lips where the bolt strips the round out of the mag. On my AR mags the rear lip area is open whereas on the LAR Mags the lips curl around the edge of the mag, possible interfering with the bolt. Nothing a Dremel wouldn't fix in a few minutes but I would hesitate to modify these pistol mags for fear of legal repurcussions.

Can anyone help?

I had the same problem you're experiencing with a pair of LAR-15's.
My XCR is rock solid reliable with many different magazines, but these particular LAR's gave me grief for the exact reasons you describe.
I took a file to them and they feed better now...but I sure wouldn't trust them to be 100% reliable.

I had this problem too. Cartridges would slip out of the teeth. Take a mallet and gently hammer the teeth together. Measure the distance of the teeth from a magazine that works to determine how far the teeth should be. This will solve you problem.

I bought a 'bundle' pack of these mags. I think about five for a reduced price. They all don't work worth a damn either. I also have a bunch of pinned Pmags with work perfectly under any and all circumstances so I just use those. Monkeying around with the feed lips will fix those 10 rounders for sure.

The only problem I had with my 3 was the mouth of the odd case catching on the front lip of the mag. I took a file and rounded the front edge and they now work 100%

I have some older LARmags that are flawless. I bought some new ones. And just pushing them out by hand they hang up on the front of the mag. I filed the front to the same dimension as my good mags, and they're fine.

Any chance someone couild post up just a few pics of their slight modification point and some rough measurements?

I got a schmagma of these coming they may be fine but still nice to see what a guy has to do if so, thank you.

I bought 10 of the new ones a couple months ago, one had a couple issues on the first 10 rounds I put through it, but either than that all 10 have ran perfectly in my XCR.
