Im looking for a red dot that anybody knows will fit the weaver rail. I just purcased a vortex venom but it doesnt fit. The notch is too wide to fit into the rail. So im going to return it but would still like a red dot. Does anyone know which ones fit 100% to save the hassles of shipping things back and fourth?

What do you mean the notch is too wide to fit into the rail? Its a standard platform, I have the same gun in 22LR and I have seen Burris Fastfire's used on these in youtube videos so I know they must fit.

I was planning on a Sparc II or a FastFire III for mine, but I'd like to know what you're referring too. Maybe post a pic,

Patrick

Ok I'll try and figure out how to post some pics tomorrow. I am assuming that because the venom comes with a picatany base that they all may not fit into a weaver rail. I am going to call vortex tomorrow and see if the base for the razor red dot for a weaver base would work on the venom. Otherwise no chance it can fit.

If it's a true Weaver rail and picatinny devices are a no-go, it may be easier to just swap the rail for a picatinny rail. Being a 10/22 platform gun, I imagine parts would be reasonably easy to come by.

The rail on the magnum research 10/22 platform rifles is integral to the receiver.

I was quite bummed out when i tried to swap a scope from one of my Dlask 10/22s (picatinny) to the MLR (weaver) to only find that the slot spacing was different.

I am thinking the sparc is going to be my back up. I found on the vortex site they make a different base for the razor red dot for weavers. I hope Monday I can find out if that base will also fit the venom. If not its a no go then I will exchange for the sparc. Here is the best I can do for a picture. It is impossible to fit unless its machined smaller.

Thanks for the links Patrick. I looked up both of those red dots and they have different bases. They will be a good alternative if it doesn't work out with the venom.

You could buy the Burris weaver base for the fastfire 2 or 3 #410335. It will work on 1913 or weaver and bolts directly to your vortex venom.

I see that now. What a horribly limiting choice on their part! It looks like there's quite a bit of elevation built into the rail also, which would irritate me on a rimfire.

Problem solved today. I called vortex and they exchanged the base for me. The viper base fits the venom and it works on the weaver. They just swapped it out for me at no charge.
