Help finding cheap 30 cal barrel blank?

I have a project that has run into a dead end due to not being able to find a cheap blank. No dice talking to a company that imports them and the WTB ad hasn't caught anything. Does anyone have a lead on where I can get 12 inches of unturned and unchambered 1:8 (or 1:10) twist 30 calibre barrel that is an inch in diameter for around $150?

Seeing as 1:8 is a very weird twist, my guess is you have zero chance of finding anything, ever. Pick a more standard twist and you'll likely have better results.

try 1-10 and you will have better luck. Why do you need 1-8?

Sounds like he's building a Whisper Cartridge which requires long/heavy for caliber bullets which in turn require tight twist rates to be accurate.

Look up Ted Gaillard or one of the other Canadian barrel makers such as Ron Smith. Both may have what you're after.

CHEAP, is that you or the part??? Barrels just don't come cheap. Especially special order barrels.

1:8 is a pretty common 300 blackout twist. Not unheard of. However as I'm more of a beggar 1:10 will do. This is not a match barrel. It's a plinker screw around project.

And correct, I'm doing a 7.62 mini whisper build as a learning project. I've got the reamer and the lathe, just need a blank.

I would try bits of pieces in BC. I think he imports green mountain barrels - which are about as cheap as they come.

Would you consider a longer blank so you could make 2 of these barrels?

PM or email .... would make the price per "blank" closer to what you want to spend.

And I assume you are comfy with all the Cdn laws surrounding short barrels????
