Help fixing a stripped sling stud on a sako av

My brother brought over a Sako AV for a good cleaning and we noticed that the butt end sling stud is somewhat stripped. The gun was given to him by his father-in-law, and apparently the stud had pulled out once. Looks like they tried to fix it with an epoxy but it's still not holding very well. I'm looking for some suggestions. I'm a knowledgable woodworker, but don't have any glues or epoxies I would trust to keep the 3/4" stud secure. What I would like to do is take the old 3/4" stud out, fill the hole, and put in a longer stud. I've looked on the internet for a longer stud but can't find any longer than 3/4". Any suggestions would be appreciated. Or a source for a longer stud. Thanks

I don't have any pictures right now. I've looked on the Uncle Mike's website and didn't find anything longer that 7/8".

Take a wooden match and 5 min epoxy, coat the matchstick with lots of epoxy and push it into the hole, trim flush and screw the stud into the correct depth, allow to set and it will never pull out again. It will also never be seen, completely hidden.

Yup, wooden matches or toothpicks, and I prefer wood glue to epoxy, but each to his own. I would let it dry and drill a small pilot hole, but agan we all have our different methods!!

I've done this a couple times with great results. Quick, easy, bulletproof.
