Hello

I change of caliber 9mm to 40 SW
Actually i have 3.5 lbs of HP-38 and i want to know if i can take this powder for this caliber ,

For the primer , i think i have to take large but need confirmation
If you have some good receipt I'm interesting.

For the bullet i order 180 HAP honardy

40S&W uses small pistol primers, like 9mm.

According to both these sites, you should start at 4.1gn HP-38, the maximum load being around 5gn.

IMO I would stick to Hodgdons web pages. You will find the data is much more accurate, and they specify Jacketed, or non jacketed load data.

I've found that Steve's data tends to encompass all other sources of data... By that I mean that if I check four or five different reloading manuals, Steve will start at the lowest published load and end at the highest.

For example, 9mm using Blue Dot, the Hornady manual says 4.8/6.6, and Lee lists a maximum of 8.2. Steve recommends a starting load of 4.8 and a maximum of 8.2.

HP38 = WW231 5.0 gr. with a 180 gr. @ 1.125-1.135" = around 175 pf for ipsc.
