Help from the glock pros

Ok so bought myself a new Gen 4 glock 22. I can not stand the trigger feels like a 25 lb pull drives me crazy so was wondering what are my options to bring that pull weight down but keep the ultimate reliability ...

Your trigger might be out of spec or not working properly. I'd try swapping a friends stock Glock trigger and disconnector in to see if it's the same issue.

You could try the 25 cent trigger job, it's a good way to learn about how your trigger works too.

And then there's the part swapping solutions everyone is talking about here. Simplest is the OEM "minus" connector. Next simplest is an aftermarket spring kit. Then there's various aftermarket full trigger kits.

Generally speaking, the more you modify your Glock trigger to feel like a good 1911 trigger, the less reliable and the less safe it is going to be (though this is always a question of degree). Gaston Glock didn't make it that way by accident.

So Iam pretty sure Iam going to order a glock factory trigger for Gen 3 as Iam a right handed and have no plans on changing mag release polish the transfer bar and install the glock - connector from what videos I e watched on glock store and advise here Iam thinking that’s the way to go. Now to find a dealer in Canada which has the trigger connector and factory extended slide release all in stock as shipping is brutal if not will order it from glock store

Just understand, that a Glock trigger will never be a 1911 trigger. 1911 is a single action pistol while Glock is a true double action only pistol. the striker both cocks and fires with one pull of the trigger

Boltgun
This sums it up. You can alter a Glock trigger with a different connector and springs so that it has a reasonably light pull and reduce the overtravel to make it quicker but a Glock trigger will NEVER come close to a nicely tuned 1911 trigger. The difference is simply inherent in their varying designs.

So I just finished shooting my glock Gen 4 with a factory Gen 3 trigger and nicely polished transfer bar also from Gen 3 and the 4.5 lb - factory connector swapped them out from one of my friends Gen 3 glocks and wow what a difference this set up I can definatly get use to feels like a nice 3lb trigger pull excellent reset as well sucks I had to take it all out and give it back to buddy but at least I know this set up will fix my trigger issues and for a reasonable price

Kind of my thoughts too. The OP may want to actually measure the trigger weight. Either something is wrong with the gun or the OP will never be happy with the reduction from trigger work IMO. Glocks are duty guns not really "target" guns.

There are a tonne of aftermarket options, if aftermarket is what you want. If you don't care about keeping it all-OEM, or about carry safety, or about reliability, and you just want the lightest & most-competitive trigger for target shooting (only), you might consider the (aftermarket) Timney trigger.

If you want to keep it all-OEM, you can choose between 3.5, or 5.5, or 8, or 12 pounds. The combination of trigger return spring (either standard coil, or 'NY-1', or 'NY-2') and connector (either 3.5, or 5.5, or 8 pound) will dictate which weight it will be.

Check out Johnny Glock on YouTube for a comprehensive understanding of the Glock trigger system. He goes into great depth on parts interactions which will make it easier to determine what type of mods to pursue. I run a 3.5 connector with the NY1 spring along with polishing the interacting parts for a better feel.

OP, Glocks aren't for everyone. Every aftermarket piece you add on is an added weak link in my opinion.

I can't shoot my G17 gen 4 worth beans, Ironically my G21 gen 2 is amazing, even more paradoxical the thin frame G48 is my favorite Glock and I can play a tune ringing the steel plates effortlessly.

I believe it's all in the grip. 1911's are very forgiving, the larger G21 fits my large hands well, and the improved ergos on the G48 also work...but that bloody G17, always, always, always pulls low left. Always!
