My gas cylinder is so tight I have to hammer it in and out on my 2007 Norc M14 22 inch barrel. Just got a new M305 18.5 inch barrel and it is the same so tight I have to hammer again is this normal ? My original gas cylinder when I got the rifle was tight like that when I first took it off. When its on it works fine but this is far from what i see people do take it off by hand. I tried another gas cylinder and its the same hammer time, it was form a M305.

So whats wrong ... or not.

Thank you.

I only shot Winchester 308 and norc 308. Winchester was good and norc had some flyers but id say accuracy is good overall 10'' plate a 330 yards 3/5 shots with norc surplus. The tight side is the gas port band side. I have to tap harder then in your video to put it on or off. I use a regular hammer and a piece of teflon to tap on and use as a damper.

Old post but new info, recently had to use a press to take it off to get some measurements ,my gas band didn't start to get tight at 4-5 oclock to get snug at 6 like it supposed to,it started to get tight at 9 oclock . Ihad no issue with accuracy though and no stovepipe or cycling issues, but for the life of me i need to find why its so tight. I'll take some measures and post back.
