HELP: Glock 17

I took the barrel out of my Glock the other day and put the slide back on it, now can't get it off. I did that before but can't remember what I did to get it off. Can someone help me out.

Make sure that the chamber is clear.

Pull the trigger.

Pull the slide back about 1/4" and pull down the takedown levers.

Allow slide to go forward and remove slide.

Does having a bbl in or out of the firearm change the take down procedure ?

The barrel is OUT, as in not in the gun.

If the above statement is not true, do not do the rest of what I'm saying.

The striker is caught on the sear. With your thumb, push the slide forward, until it is sitting where it would be, were the barrel in the gun. Your thumb should be pushing against a fair bit of spring tension.

Pull the trigger, and remove the slide by moving it forward.

badboybeeson: I sometimes wonder the same thing , but how many people operate cars and have no clue as to what is going on under the hood. It sometimes can cost them big, if they continue with that red light flashing . At least this person is trying to be familiar with something new and got caught on a little peculiarity of his firearm and now thanks to this site he KNOWS something he didn't before and by the way I learned something too.
