Hello there, I'm planning on picking up a .40 s&w for my first pistol purchase. I'm currently a student and as a result am on a tight budget, so I was hoping to choose between those two.

The glock is on special for 599, the norinco is in the 340-365 range. I'm a smaller guy, (5,8' 160), with medium size hands.

Personally I like the look of the norinco much more, but obviously that's not the only deciding factor.

What would you do?

Glock, no question!
If you want an option also look at the Ruger SR40
smaller grip and a good gun for the money.
but if your desiding between the glock and Norc only.... go Glock!

Hmm, That ruger seems to be a good compromise, have to look into it further. Positive reviews and good price as well. I'm definitely not only limited to those two, they just had seemed like good options up to this point.

I live in Ontario, Just north of Toronto actually. Going to make a few calls to places around here, if I can't find it I can always just order online.

Glock is more like a VW rather than BMW.....

On the other hand, Norico is definitely not KIA but an old Russian Volga. bad finish and old style, but hey, it will get you there.

Why are you considering a .40 if you're on a budget? Factory ammo is substantially more expensive than 9mm.

Another vote for Glock all the way. Or if you really like the norinco sig series you could get the NP-22 and pay 370ish and shoot the cheaper 9mm. That is a good gun too. Less money on ammo means more practice which is very important.

Glock is a much better pistol IMO. I used to have the NP-22 and it was very reliable and accurate but quite rough and at the end of the day still a copy of the 226.

Just get a Glock 17 :)

Get the Glock 22, its a fine pistol (especially the Gen4) that is ultra reliable and rugged (mine now has over 6k rds, not 1 malf). The only advantage of the Norc is that when it does malf it's heavy enuf to cause blunt force trauma. :D
