Stuff to Know about the Equipment Exchange [aka EE]
Cant seem to find any info on how to BTT an ad properly
Do i erase the ad and then post it again ?
(I know its a 7 day period before doing so)
Help appreciated
Thx
1. Only you can reply or BTT [bring your post back to the top of the page] your post in the Equipment Exchange [aka EE]. You BTT an EE ad by making a "reply" to the original ad. That then creates the BTT and your ad "
bumps up to
the
top of the page" & will then appear at the top of the 1st page of the EE forum you have it posted in.
2. The system states BTT's are every 7 days. The system now has a built in default that will not allow you to BTT a post until 7 days have passed.
3. However, you CAN NOT skirt the 7 day BTT rule by making a "new" post of your item inside 7 days & then deleting your earlier post to make it look like a completely "new" post. This is known as a "cheating BTT". If you get caught doing this you will get an infraction that will give you a 60 day time-out from the EE. [**Note: Just because you "edit" a post, and even say remove the thread title & post content, does not mean that a moderator or site Admin can't recall the previous thread information to see what has been "deleted"...

].
4. The reason for this is there are thousands of CGN members with hundreds having EE posting priveleges. The rules have to be fair for everyone. Putting posts back up to the top of the page(s) bumps everyone else's stuff farther down the page(s). Despite a warning put up in General Discussion concerning "cheating BTT's" here:
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=467389
a number of members have since learned the hard way that the "cheating BTT' will get you a 60 day EE time-out.
You can review the EE rules here:
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/faq.php?faq=new_faq_item#faq_cgn_exchange_rules
Some things to remember from the EE Rules:
1. If you are editing a post, edit the ORIGINAL post, don't make a "new" post.
2.
Pictures in the EE can be no larger than
1024x768 pixels. Most people are using Photobucket as their picture "host" site. Use Photobucket's default upload size of
1024x768 when uploading pictures to the host then they will be sized perfectly for your EE posts and within the rules.
3. Once your item is sold and you no longer need it in the EE, edit your post prefix from "WTS" etc to "Pls Remove" [Go "edit" then "go advanced", then you can edit your post prefix and thread title]. Mods will then delete your post from the EE.
4. The rules state you are allowed only 2 posts per EE forum. However, the Mods will allow 2 each of "WTS" [want to sell] or "WTB" [want to buy] per forum before considering the number of current ads are 'over the limit'. Ads in excess of allowable limit will likely be removed, and the poster warned or infracted. Technically, all ads are considered current/active until the ad prefix has been edited from WTS etc to "Pls Remove". It is the member's responsibility to ensure their EE posts are up to date.
5. If you want to see a list of your current posts, go into your user profile, the easiest way to do this is on the top right side of the CGN page toolbar you can click your user name, which will open your user profile. When your profile opens, go to the 'tabs' on the lower left side of the page, click the "statistics" tab, when that opens you can click "find all threads" which will go to a page of all your current threads. You can then view all your EE ads from here.
