Long story short I got this on trade as a model 10 but upon receiving the registration it says smith and wesson model 1 of 1899. But the barrel looks like a model 1902 right? Now what makes it more confusing to me is the low serial number 15xx which would place it in the first run in 1899? Am I completely out to lunch, I know there someone one here who can confirm what this is and the date of manufacture. I'm also going back to the black plastic grips and it's going to be stripped and rust blued.

Not a model 1899, or at least it isn’t completely one anymore. If it were a correct 1899 then it should have an unsupported ejector rod. The serial 15xx would put the frame in the initial run but the barrel and ejector/cylinder rod are either from a 1902 or 1905 model up to the mid 1920’s when the mushroom style ejector was switched to the drum style.
