Hi there,

Looking for some input on this Bernardelli revolver. My dad picked it up around 30 years ago and doesn’t know too much about it. What I know so far - has markings V. Bernardelli Gardone Modif 1932. 5905. Looks like a present with a crown marking? And R. 4(?) Guardia Di Finanza. Appears to be Italian I think.

Thanks for any help.

Bodeo 1889 (Type B modified?) issued to the "Guardia di Finanza" who are a military police force that is governed by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finances - they are essentially tax and customs officers

The Bodeo was the Italian service revolver from the post US civil war cartridge era all the way through World War 1 and saw use even in World War 2, many modifications were made to the gun during its service life

I believe all of the Bernardelli Bodeos were produced between 1928-1935

Hopefully an Italian milsurp expert can tell you more about the proof marks
