Hi can anyone help ID a fn49 without pics.
-S/n 177###
-Walnut wood, Black enamil? painted metal
-Bayo mount on Barrel
-30-06 cal
-Fabrique Belguique....Haerstal...I know what this means...on RH side of reciever
-Has a type of rail mount on reciever similar to a SVT40.

A 30-06 is less common in Canada than either 7mm or 8mm.

Before you shoot it, make GD sure you have the two-piece firing pin. The one-piece firing pin has a nasty reputation for getting stuck forward and pre-detonating primers. They then blow themselves apart and you'll have a pile of big parts, a pile of small parts and an unknown number of gone parts.
 
"...Has a type of rail mount on receiver similar to a SVT40..." Unless it's milled into the left side of the receiver, it's aftermarket. S&K makes one. Not cheap. $160 plus US.

Update for those that care more than just a"...30-06 fn49...".
SN of rifle is 177xx not 177###
Reciever does have a scope mount but it is not like a SVT40. groove machined into left hand of reciever. Rail on either side and 4 slots cut into the bottom of rails, 2 perside fore and aft.
What I was innitialy asking is were this weapon was issued. Thanks to those that gave info.
