I found this shoulder holster at a shop the other day. I was considering buying it, but I'd like to know its military origin first if possible, as it was still 30 bucks.

Any ideas? Not really many markings. There was some on the inside of the flap, I think one of them led me to believe it was made I the 70's. There was a stamp on the back of it that said Montreal. It was made entirely of leather and had a nice pad on the shoulder strap, as seen in the picture. Part of me thinks maybe for a BHP.

Any ideas?

Those particular holsters don't exactly grow on trees. When was the last time you even saw one, let alone had the chance to buy it?

I found one at a gun show about 10 years ago in similar condition.

Supposedly, they were exclusive to the Air Arm of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

By the way, it will give you a very good reason to purchase a P35 HP to fill it.

Good point. I have never seen another one of these for sale. I bought a very nice vintage BHP a few weeks ago, no a milsurp one though, so it will go very well with it.

They were not exclusive to the air arm.....these were in stock at the artillery unit I was attached to when I left the service. Saw plenty of them over in KAF as well. Mind you, there was a very wide array of holsters there, including many bought from the locals at the market.

Well I went and bought it today, but after getting it home, my BHP wont fit! The holster is much too small. I cant even get the flap to close when my tokarev is in it!

I used one in the early 1980s in Germany. Its not a good holster, at all and it slowly went on self destruct till it totally fell apart. The black US shoulder holsters where all the rage back then for tank drivers and commanders. The next holster I was issed was the POS Bianchi M84 which was pretty bad also and while it was dubious at best for keeping the 9mm actually IN the thing MOST of the time it did not fall apart.

"...my BHP wont fit..." That's because that holster is for a revolver. Likely something along the lines of a Smith Model 10. The Meatheads used revolvers and not Inglis BHP's, at one time.
