help identifiying p17 enfield

I have a M1917 with RCAF stamped on the butt. Only reason I bought it.

well seeing as iam not a collector just like to identify what something is then pass it on to a good home what would something like this be worth the gentleman that identified it for what it was says about 1500.00 is he out to lunch he rated it overall as 90 to 95 percent condition

I paid $500.00 about 3 years back for one in 90% condition, but it is in the standard issue configuration. Very few of the 80,000 US Rifle of Model 1917's imported into Canada in 1940 had the Canadian Broad Arrow stamped on the rifle, so that would increase the price a bit. As for the target sight, I have no idea.

i just gave this rifle a through lookover and there are very clear traces of red paint behind the safty lever of this so to me it proves that this rifle was indeed asembled with this stock with canadian markings so anyone know of any special variations that made it to canada either trials rifles or target rifles or was this just one of the springfield target builds that somehow made it into canadian forces use
