I local guy asked me if I could figure a new mounting option for him, but to be honest I do not know what this rifle is. It is in .222 and has a side mount but with very small rings on it. He wants to put a regular 1" tubed scope on it.

The 340 was designed by the same person - Brewer - who designed the first version of the 110.

340s tend to shoot very well, notwithstanding their unusual bedding and overall economy design and manufacture.

Tradex has a weaver style, out of stock at the moment but they usually replenish fairly often.

I have the Bsquare mount that is pretty much identical to this sun optics version and i like it. Most of the older mounts i have seen have 2 rigid built in place rings, which worked well with older long tubed scopes, but most newer scopes have much shorter tubes and don't work that well with them.

Not sure where you would get a Bsquare one now, their support of Canada seems to be very lacking, but i've read the people who started sun optics used to work for Bsquare, so it's likely a direct copy.

Williams Gunsights make a decent looking mount for them too, and they will ship to canada, but they're kind of on the expensive side, even more so with our dollar these days.

Not sure about the .222 versions, but my 30-30 is one of my favorite guns to carry during deer season. The only time i pick something else is if i'm near a field or clear cut with longer shots, but you can't beat the weight/balance of them for a bolt gun. Mine is a springfield and i swapped out the bolt handle for the butter knife style, i just liked the looks better.
