Help - Identify these Mosin Nagant Markings please

Hey guys and gals,

Yesterday I managed to get two hex Mosin Nagant's for $150 each - fresh out of long term storage - still covered in cosmoline. These are in great shape in my mind. I will attach pictures of the receivers and date - if you can - please help identify the markings. If you require pictures of the entire firearm - let me know.

Here is the first. It is a 1929 Hex Mosin. It has been counter-bored - I have not fired so I do not know if it is well done - but the rifle is beautiful in my opinion.

Here is the second. It is a 1925 Hex Mosin. It is not counter-bored. It is in very good condition as well - aside from flaking stain on stock.

Please let me know what you guys think of the symbols. I like to know what I bought - a story to tell when I show others my collection.

Anyone know about these symbols?


I have come to think that my 1925r HEX, is a Izhevsk M91 Dragoon - that has been turned into an M91/30. Although - I am not sure how to identify whether or not it is still a Dragoon and not converted to an M91/30. Any ideas? I don't know any way to determine whether it is an untouched Dragoon.

Also,

The 1929 HEX, has a letter, "D," above the date. I have heard that this is a Finnish mark - indicating that the chamber has been opened to accommodate the D166 Cartridge. What does that mean exactly? Does having the letter D on the receiver mean that the rifle is a Finnish refurb?

Please help!
 
Top on is a 1929 Tula Arsenal and appears to be a Dragoon receiver. Bottom one is a 1925 Izhevsk Arsenal receiver. Also a Dragoon year. Dragoons were often refurbished into 91/30 specs.

Check out 7.62x54r dot net as that is where I got the info. I'm no expert on the MN lines, so someone may correct me if I'm off.
