1920. Looks as if it has been redone; reblued. Extractor jeweling is certainly not original.
Nice rifles. They are rifled for use with 87gr bullets; heavier ones will not shoot well, in all likelihood.

I have to admit I don't know very much about the rifle but she is one sweet looking item.I have a soft spot for older classic types of bolt rifles and this one fits right in there, really nice. The sandwich looks interesting too....

Where's that crazy hound when yuzz need'im?

Neat old rifle that would sure attract attention at the shooting range.
Nice find.

Lots of distractions too, sammich, sum uppers, and three pahs................

With a 1-14" twist so the shortest .25 caliber ogive is Speer. Should print nose first ,if not use the Speer 87gr as they will hold together on deer sized game........the old CIL/Dominion 100gr KKSP will shoot good but good luck finding any.......Harold

That's a sweet rifle. The Model 1920 was the first American made lightweight bolt action, and it was well made. At around 6 lbs.,it's also a fine carry rifle. They made a tad under 12,000 of them before the Depression killed sales.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. It has been correctly identified as the very desirable Savage model 1920 and the dates of 1920/1926 are correct. I hope you are aware that the rifle looks to have been completely refinished. Nonetheless, it is a great little hunting rig. 250-3000=1-14" twist.
