I picked up this scope from my brother. He got out of hunting years ago, sold his guns but found this scope hidden in his bedroom :)
He bought it new about 30 yrs ago, never been in the field and was used to maybe get 20 rounds through the barrel. It has been sitting ever since, in really great condition, almost looks like new. It is a 1.5x5 in great shape (few markings from scope rings)..... Looking to find out what model and it's worth as I plan on selling it for him as I have no use for it.
Thanks in advance...

Appears to have Leupold logo on side of elevation turret - the specific model is likely stamped around that gold ring on front. "U" prefix on serial number means it was made in 1987. Go to FAQ on Leupold website to confirm date of manufacture.

As mentioned above, it appears the gold ring has some info on it.
It will git gawbulled up in the EE tewt sweet iff'in it's a VAR X III.

They look'n work well on lever rifles.

Once again I could use your imput...... I am wondering if you can help me with pricing it out as I got some information from Leupold today in an email...

Hey Frank,
Based on the serial number I can tell you it was manufactured in 1987. Given the magnification range of 1.5-5 it is a Vari-X III or some iteration of that product. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Regards,
Chris -

So what's a fair price?
Thanks in advance

Pretty sure it won't sit long in the EE for $350.
What I paid for my last one within the last 12 months.

Some are awptimistic at $500.
Not sure iff'in they move at that price.

People are slowly starting to realize Leupold don't maykim any more and the great
eye relief and full warranty make them wanted.
