Help identifying a Parker Hale

You need to read that Birmingham date code on yours to know when it was likely manufactured. The ones with soldered on bases here are Safari Super or Safari De Luxe marked on side wall - so my guess is that they might be older than the 1000, 1100, 1200, but am just not certain. The 1200 TX here, for sure, is dated to 1969 - or at least was bought "new" by Canada and then used in the 1969 PALMA Match, along with 59 others. It is drilled and tapped for scope bases, although none are installed.

Found one here - a Safari De Luxe - is stamped as such on left side of receiver - bases are soldered onto receiver - no screws - Birmingham code is Q on left of crossed swords; B on right side, so I get 1965 as the year the proof was done. Chambered in 308 Norma Mag - original PH barrel - just under 22", for whatever reason.

The light weights had the drilled out bolt knobs, have one in 6.5x55, they are all decent rifles. I think when I dated mine before they were proofed in the early 80's.

OP - I just realized more fun for you - those scope bases. What you have, I think, are Parker Hale bases - no cross slot - just a tapered divot for a recoil stud to enter. So far as I know, can ONLY be used with Parker Hale rings - might be another brand from Great Britain that some have "made work". Take close look at both of Hitzy's rifles - not Parker Hale rings, so not Parker Hale bases. Having a "standard" commercial Mauser large ring you probably want bases listed for an "FN" Mauser - yours does not have the charger lip that will be found on rear bridge on a military Mauser 98. Used to be a common thing for most makers to list bases for various Mausers - do not know about these days... On the two PH rifles here with "soldered on" bases, both came with factory supplied RALS.3 rings - those are LOW Parker Hale rings, for 1" body scopes, if you can find them. Taller ones are RAHS.3 - I have never seen those tall ones with each of the pair both having the recoil studs - seemed to be a thing mostly for the No. 4 Lee Enfields that only used a recoil stud on A21 rear base.

This is good to know thank you!

The forend on my stock must have small fine cracks I can't see - small pieces keep breaking off of it so I may need to find a different stock, unfortunately.

Why is this opportunity an unfortunate one?
Dude, this is the chance to find a really nice piece of wood and have it carved into something spectacular.
This isn’t an unobtainium type Rifle.
Embrace the suck If you will.

Boyd’s is an option for the 98’s. The make on specific to Parker hales and the side safety as well some of their walnut stocks are quite nice, here is a picture of a Mauser borrowed off the web.

Interesting that you quote a stock for PH "Off the web".
Where's my Parker Hale mag that I paid you for?
