Help identifying antique pistols

If anyone can provide me with any info as to the history/value of these pistols, or any info at all it would be appreciated.

I believe they are dueling pistols.

Cal. .44 Cap and ball
Octagon barrel, smooth bore
Over all length. 7.5 in

"MENDI" stamped on top of barrel over chamber
"334 (12 m/m) MS 334" stamped on left of barrel, text in brackets is
surrounded by a half-oval

I agree, they are likely repros, but my dad had to register them in '63 so they're antique regardless. I wanna have 'em checked by a weapons tech to see if I can safely fire them. What do you think?
 
Mendi is Spanish company/brand sold up until the early 1980's by Dixie and others. The fact that they are registered should be pretty good indication that they are not antiques either by age or by regulation.
I would suggest asking advice from someone knowledgeable in your local black powder club about their probable safety. Most gunsmiths have minimal knowledge of muzzle loaders. I would also suggest getting a copy of Lyman's Black Powder manual for generic loading information.

Antique pistols

Hi,your pistols are probably spanish repro's.FYI-True antique duelling pistols,normally had 10" barrels & no sights(not sporting you know):) Cody
