I have a 20" AR-15 barrel marked C MP Chrome bore. It has a smaller OD for the gas block area (not .750) I would like to know some general info on it including the twist rate. I believe it is a colt.

Thanks!

Stick a cleaning rod in the barrel with a patch on it. Place a mark with a marker on the cleaning rod and a matching mark on the barrel at the same spot. Pull the rod but let it turn with the twist, when the mark on the rod comes back around to the top measure from the muzzle to the mark. If it moved 12 inches for 1 rotation it is a 1:12 twist. If it moved 9 inches for 1 rotation it is a 1:9 twist. Thats the easiest way to check the twist that I know.

Beautifully intelligent !

I guarantee that it's 1/12. When Colt started making 1/7 twist they started marking the barrels as such, probably to cut down on confusion such as this.
