Wandering away from your example, perhaps, but I have handled the older German claw mounts that were soldered to the scope. So, once installed, eye relief was set. Period. No adjusting, short of un-soldering, cleaning up and starting all over. The unit I have actually works with conventional "rings" that clamp onto the scope body - so just loosening and re-tightening screws needed to swap out to different scope, or to adjust eye relief for a different shooter. The older ones had the release at the rear, so to remove you lifted the rear of the scope - so the front "claws" needed to be attached close to the front end of the scope - on the objective bell - so the scope didn't hit the barrel. The "Ziegler type" that I have hinge opposite direction - lift the front up - rear end has more room to swivel to remove the claws.
