Help identifying this BSA 30-06 rifle

BSA also made some high grade sporters on p-14, m-17 receivers in the 1920’s. They were made in their own proprietary cartridges, I have seen ones in .33 BSA and .40 BSA, they seem to be based on cases resembling winchesters .338 win. Mag. Very nice rifles, they have 2 flip up aperture sights as well as 2 flip up express sights. I think I have a line on one now.

My BSA M17 takes Rem 700 bases.

Hi mbogo3:

Are you sure your BSA is an M17? The M1917 is a Mauser copy with some changes, but the front receiver ring is quite a bit higher than the rear...like a Mauser.
I know that the BSA model CF-2 uses Rem 700 bases. The receiver is flat from frt to rear. Nice rifles too.
The CF-2 isn't a CRF rifle either, but it does have a bolt guide that kind of looks like a Mauser style extractor.

For instance, the first link is to an M1917 receiver. You can see the front receiver ring is higher than rear.

The second here is for a CF-2 receiver. Same height front and rear, uses Rem 700 bases.
