Thanks guys. I'll see if the exif data in the image can allow me to calculate the size later.

@two-dogs... Not sure my 7yr old would regard me well after that . lol

Context and background information matters. You didn't bother to say where in the world you took the picture, or when. So it is difficult to help and it could be almost anything. One tip: Droppings don't usually happen without other sign like tracks of the animal nearby.

I didn't know what people would need in order to Assist with the identification? I looked but I could not see any tracks at all. Wish I had taken a photo of the surrounding area. The first photo was taken in the middle of the trail at a very Rocky section, no tracks could be seen on either side of the trail. The second photo was about 50m off a snowmobile trail in a grassy patch, across from a large pond (300mx200m would be my guess on size). This was in WMU60, Ontario - near Kawartha Highlands Park.

OK, Ontario helps a little. My guess is the first may be either bear or summer moose that was eating soft food like water plants. The second looks like Summer deer, again old scat and from a deer eating soft green food.

You have to have a size comparison when asking for identification on scat. Ideal comparison is to place a 25 cent piece coin beside it.
If the size jibes, both examples are a moose eating soft food, as has been mentioned.

First is black bear on a berry diet. If he was on an apple duet it would look like rotten apple core flesh. Black Bear is usually heavy on seeds as well. Since this northern Ontario he is likely dining on berries with small seeds. Here in NB. It is large seed berries.

Here is more bear poop for reference.... Taken yesterday, he was also caught on trail cam taking the dump lol.
