Got my answer, thanks folks!

Hey folks, quick and simple. I am trying to bid on a gun out of province from a reputable vendor, I cant say much more than that because I don't want anyone to scoop me. But I got one picture and one picture only. Does this look like an SKS d to you? only things I take note of are the mag and the black bolt. But it was my understanding the D didn't have the blade type bayonet. Thanks

It could be a M-model. I have 2 of them and has a standard looking mag realease. hard to tell with out seeing the mag. A lot of M-models had no Bayo. Also some M-models were also MC-5D written on the side and imported to the US in the late 80's and 90's I believe.

Unfortunately these guns especially the newer civilian models imorted in the 80's and 90's they pieced them togeather with what modified parts they had. I have a miltary conversioned one that came to me in a old ATI stock with an M-model trigger group all numbers matched an no import stamp and a slightly shorter barrel and no bayo or lug. The other is an MC-5D with us import way pourly made compared to the military one with the same stock as in the picture and no Bayo slightly longer barrel. They both have M-model trigger groups. Not sure if they are true M-models or not however, the trigger group is.

It is very possible that is is an MC-5D. Only way to know is a view of the side markings and if it is a true D-model mag. The stock looks correct but hard to tell from the pic.

Exactly what I was thinking. If it is it looks like a nice example! Bayo included! These rifles vary so widely. Now if I could only get a true D-model in my collection.

Why did the op delete the first post? Hardly helps spread the knowledge of what wad passed on.

If this is the one you mean, yes it us an SKS-D. Identical to mine. It has the standard SKS mag latch rather than the AK style mag latch. Also gas a bolt carrier that will accept stripper clips. Seeing as there is no bolt hold open device, it really isn't functional for stripper clip feeding.

is this a custom job? the one I have has an ak mag latch, or were there different versions made?
